SHE REP: SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENTAL REPRESENTATIVE
The SHE rep is a representative that covers Safety, Health, and Environmental hazards. Charged with ensuring safety in the workplace, SHE rep duties include proactive employee training; protection for workers from potential hazards; and communication about hazardous accidents, should they occur.

The SHE representative function is to maintain the health and safety within the workplace. The SHE representative’s duties include:
Review the organisations health and safety measures
Safety and health policies are specific to each individual organisation The content of the policy of an organisation should be based on the hazards and risks present in the organisation and should reflect the fact that systematic hazard identification and risk assessment have been undertaken.
Identify potential hazards
To be sure that all hazards are found:
1. Look at all aspects of the work and include non-routine activities such as maintenance, repair, or cleaning.
2. Look at the physical work environment, equipment, materials, products, etc. that are used.
3. Include how the tasks are done.
4. Look at injury and incident records.
Examine the causes of incidents within the workplace

Investigate complaints relating to the employees’ health and safety
Representatives shall be entitled to: Attend any investigation or formal inquiry. Inspect any document related to health and safety matters. Accompany an inspector. Be accompanied by technical advisor if approved by the employer.
Inspect health and safety equipment, machinery and potential hazardous substances within the work place which could cause harm or injury to employees
